🔥 How to Use Hot Item and Good Deal Tags to Boost Bidding

Understanding how Hot Item and Good Deal tags work can help you motivate bidders and highlight exciting opportunities during your event. These tags are automatically applied based on bidding activity and item value.

🎟️ What Are Hot Item & Good Deal Tags?

These tags appear on auction items to signal value and bidding activity to your guests.

  • Hot Item = High interest and strong bidding activity
  • Good Deal = Opportunity to get a bargain compared to the item’s value

These tags are designed to encourage more bidding by creating urgency and highlighting perceived value.

⚙️ Requirements for Tags to Appear

Before either tag can show, you must first:

  1. Go to your item setup.
  2. Enter a Fair Market Value (FMV) for the item.
  • If no FMV is set, neither tag will appear.
  • Once FMV is added, the system will automatically evaluate the item.
  • Tags will display within the last 20 minutes of your auction.

Heads up: These tags will only show 20 minutes to close.

🔥 How the “Hot Item” Tag Works

An item will display the Hot Item tag when all of the following are true:

  • The item has a Fair Market Value (FMV) set
  • The item has received 10 or more bids
  • The current winning bid is greater than or equal to 60% of the FMV

This tag signals that the item is popular and actively being bid on.

Tip: Use accurate FMV values to ensure the Hot Item tag reflects real excitement and not inflated pricing.

💡 How the “Good Deal” Tag Works

An item will display the Good Deal tag when:

  • The item has a Fair Market Value (FMV) set
  • The item has received at least one bid
  • The current winning bid is less than 60% of the FMV

This tag highlights items that are currently priced below their perceived value.

🔁 Automatic Tag Behavior

  • Tags are automatically applied and updated as bids come in
  • An item can switch between tags depending on bidding activity
  • No manual setup is required beyond entering the FMV

Tags update in real time as bidding changes, helping keep your auction dynamic and engaging.

🛑 When Tags Won’t Appear

Tags will not display if:

  • The item has no Fair Market Value (FMV) entered
  • The item has no bids (for Good Deal)
  • The item has fewer than 10 bids (for Hot Item)
  • It is not within the last 20 minutes of your auction

Without an FMV, the system cannot calculate value-based tags, so be sure this field is completed for all auction items.
